@The_AntiTax_Man  yes they definitely asked what version I was using, after verifying my customer ID. I was also told by one of the techs (I was passed on to another specialist) that they had sent a message to inquire about my situation and was told (by presumably a super tech?) that I would need to speak to IRS about how to handle it. I honestly can't remember all of the misinformation I received at this point, the quantity was mind blowing. The one thing I am sure of is that none of the three to five employees involved had any idea as to how the forms worked nor the rules governing their usage.

 

@Michael  Intuit laid off a bunch of employees last summer.  They have likely hired a bunch of  replacements that have less knowledge and experience.  You were likely connecting with the newbies.
