Happy Valentine's day everyone!!
I have a client and spouse who were married during the tax year. Spouse has student loans, which has not been paid back, (not quite sure when they were acquired) They have 2 children and will be receiving a refund. should I file injured spouse if she thinks they may keep their money?
Thanks for your advice

What's so terrible about paying back your debts?

There is nothing wrong with paying them off, she doesn't mind them being pd from her part she doesn't want them to hurt her husband getting his refund.

"she doesn't want them to hurt her husband getting his refund."
As Dave Ramsey says, "There is a Pronoun problem here."
This is Their Loan and Their Refund, now. It's "we" and "our."

qbteachmt - Love this. I'm a big Dave fan.
One of the most rewarding day's in my 40+ year career, about 3-4 years ago I was on vacation and got a call from a single mom who I had been encouraging for 15 years to get stuff paid off called me to tell me she had paid off her car, and that was the last thing on the list.
When she said it was all because of me, it meant more than any tax return I ever did.

Well, I am "Dave-ish" and fine with it. I never knew you could leave balances running on credit cards until I started hearing those call-ins! What are those people thinking?

So, if you don't have an answer to my question or advice for my client, other than to pay them off, (which she is working on) Please don't say anything!!

"I just asked a simple question"
So did we.
"if you don't have an answer to my question or advice for my client,"
Only you and the client can determine what, if anything, applies. Start here, for your client to read:
