Good Morning, Everyone!
Just wanted to share how we are working around the issues with the new program in hopes it may help others.
1. We copied the 26TTBLS file folder to a new location so that we could copy it back once the old program was installed.
2. We uninstalled new program
3. We installed old program under: "EasyACCT Professional Accountant previous years - 2024 - Download Full CD Image" ***note - when I chose the option to download the 2024 version, it kept downloading the new version, so I chose the "Download Full CD Image" option and the old version downloaded correctly. I did have to manually run it from the Autorun file where it saved on our computer, but it worked. Also - it did go through one update and loaded all of the previous updates to the old version - so we were happy about that.
4. We copied the 26TTBLS folder back under the EASYW folder
5. We restored all of our backup files to new directories on our computers. *** I did backup all files we had BEFORE I did the update last week. So, we were only out a couple of days of work that was done and that was only the new payrolls we have ran in 2026.
Please note, that this process did got give us the 2025 W2 or the Form 940. However, I have the new program installed on a laptop that we can use to run any of those forms until the new software gets ALL OF THE ISSUES FIXED.
Also, remember that once you open a company file in the new version, it will not open in the old version if you go this route. So, restoring a backup file is probably your only option.
Also - just some friendly advice - do your backups daily perhaps to avoid these issues in the future. I'm glad we only lost a couple of days work. My heart goes out to all of you who are dealing with bigger fish than we are. Hopefully Intuit gets things straightened out soon (UNDER STATEMENT OF THE YEAR..) And yes, I have learned the backup thing the hard way last year after we got new computers and I lost more than a couple of days of data 😞
Have you had any problems with restoring the backup files from a 25.26 version to the 25.26 version (on a Win10 system)? As soon as I tried to restore, all payroll and AP is completely blank and when I try to run the utility system, is just freezes up and does not work. I am in the same boat and have already done the
remove and replace with the 25 back to 24 version, but had to use the payroll run today for 26 and wish I had read your solution before I did that-HOURS if work trying to get this done and now finding out I will have to do it all over again!!
This is the worst software they have put out and I have been using this sine 1995-DOS version!!!!
We are using Windows 11. You cannot open a 25/26 version file within the 24/25 version program. All of the data we restored was from backing up in the 24/25 software version.
Do you have any backups from the 2024/2025 version? Maybe you can start there and then rework whatever you've done since then? I know it may be an incredible amount of work. I think this is where the whole 'better to deal with the devil you know than to deal with the devil you don't know' comes into play for a lot of us. I think the problem with switching to new software is I haven't found one yet that has the ability to transfer information from Easy ACCT to a new program.
I too have been using this software since the 90's. I think most of us here are diehards. I wish we would be appreciated for the years of loyalty we have provided this program - plus all of the money we have invested each year which has skyrocketed in the last decade.
