Troubleshooting DMS EFcreate Error: Cannot Create File
by Intuit• Updated 3 months ago
The following error generates when trying to save a scanned file in the Document Management System:
"EFcreate Error: Cannot Create file X:\ (DMS Database Directory)"
The scanned document/PDF is created in the database, but the size of the file is 0KB and can't be opened.
How do I resolve this error?
To resolve this error, you need to temporarily delete the DMS folder.
Follow these steps to temporarily delete the DMS folder:
- Close the error message
- DMS should remain open.
- Within DMS, delete the 0KB file that was created from the scan.
- Close DMS.
- On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to open the Run prompt.
- Type %TEMP% and press Enter.
- Inside the Temp Directory that opens, delete the DMStemp folder.
- Open DMS.
- Try to scan again.
If the steps above don't resolve the issue, check Security and Permissions on the DMS Database folder as well as the DMS shortcut/Icon on the desktop. Make sure all users have full permissions and full security rights to the database—as well as DMS itself.
