ProSeries Version Checking

by Intuit Updated 5 months ago

This article will show you how to check the version of ProSeries and installed formsets. This is especially important when verifying calculation differences between installed copies of the software. To best assist customers, your ProSeries should always be up to date to compare versions.

To check the version:

  • Go to Help > About ProSeries
  • Click the Version tab

SCREENSHOT

Engine version

The Engine version tells you the current version of the ProSeries software. Homebase, eSignature, licensing and more software functions are all affected by this version.

Print version

The Print version shows the current version of the ProSeries print engine. If a printing problem is occurring, compare this version number with a working version of the software.

Formset versions

This table consists of two columns: Component and Version number.

The Component column lists each installed formset by its filename. This takes some practice to learn to read but the names are broken down by state and form type. They are listed alphabetically by state.

Example:

  • S20IS1040 = Federal Individual
  • S2020ZAL = Alabama Individual
  • S2020ALP = Alabama Partnership
  • S2020ALF = Alabama Fiduciary
  • S2020ALCORP = Alabama Corporation
  • S2020ALSCORP = Alabama S-Corporation

Some component names may look different but will generally include the state abbreviation and the letter or number of its formset. (C for Corp, S for SCorp, 1065 or 1120.)

The Version number shows the currently installed version. This version number corresponds directly to the release numbers found on the Forms Availability page.

SCREENSHOT

If the installed version number is less than the current release number, an update will need to be done.

Example: In the screenshot above, as of February 3th 2021, the installed version of Federal 1040 should be 2020.16. A customer still using the 2020.15 version would not have updated 1040 forms.
