Entering dividend income from Form 1099-DIV in ProConnect Tax

This article will help you locate inputs for 1099-DIV income in an individual (1040) return.

To enter Form 1099-DIV for an Individual return:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab.
  2. On the left-side menu, select Income
  3. Select Dividend Income (1099-DIV).
  4. Enter the Name of Payer.
  5. Select the Details button to expand the input screen.
    • Enter Box 1a in Total ordinary dividends.
    • Enter Box 1b in Qualified dividends.
    • Enter Box 2a in Total capital gain distributions.
    • Enter Box 2b in Unrecaptured section 1250 gain.
    • Enter Box 2c in Section 1202 gain.
    • Enter Box 2d in Collectibles (28%) rate gain.
    • Enter Box 3 in Nondividend distributions.
    • Enter Box 4 in Federal income tax withheld.
    • Enter Box 5 in Section 199A dividends.
    • Enter Box 6 in Investment expenses.
    • For Box 7 and Box 8, Foreign tax paid, see here.
    • For Box 9 Cash liquidation distributions or Box 10 Noncash liquidation distributions, see here.
    • Enter Box 11 in FATCA filing requirement
    • For Box 12, Exempt-interest dividends, see here.
    • Enter Box 13 in Specified private activity bond interest dividends
    • Enter Box 14 in State
    • Enter box 15 in State identification no.
    • Enter Box 16 in State tax withheld.
  6. Select Back to Quick entry at the top of your screen and repeat steps 4 and 5 to enter additional Forms 1099-DIV.
