What are Fatal diagnostics in Lacerte
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
Fatal diagnostics will prevent an electronic record from being created.
There are three categories of diagnostics:
- Fatal are generated when fundamental information is missing from a return. These diagnostics will prevent the electronic return from being created.
- Critical appear when information may affect the outcome of the return. Critical diagnostics can be both fatal and informational and will sometimes prevent the creation of the electronic return.
- Informational appear when information has been entered that could affect the outcome of the return but the information doesn't require a change or adjustment.
Diagnostics related to an e-file return will be noted as 'e-file'.
