How to amend an individual return (1040X) in ProConnect Tax
by Intuit•19• Updated 3 months ago
This article will help you create and file an amended return for Form 1040 in ProConnect Tax.
If you are looking for how to amend a different return type, select your return type below:
Starting in tax year 2022, e-filed 1040-X returns can receive a refund by direct deposit. Amended returns use the same Direct Deposit and Electronic Payment settings as the regular return, and can be adjusted in the Miscellaneous Information screen.
Before you start:
- We recommend creating a copy of the original return to save your entries as filed.
- If you didn't prepare the client's original 1040, or you prepared it in a different program, use Amending an individual return (1040X) not created in ProConnect Tax, instead.
- 1040NR filers only complete a few portions of Form 1040X when amending. See Form 1040X instructions for more details.
