Please consider an unlimited price for those firms that would want it. Every other software has this option. At a minimum, I believe any unused returns should roll over to the next year. Terribly unfair that I paid for but can't use returns because I estimated incorrectly. Plus, if I knew it would roll over, I'd be inclined to buy more so I don't have to deal with buying ore in the heat of Tax Season when I run out. 

So many times I'm not sure if a new client will actually come after filing an extension for them or maybe we need an extension for a child that turns out doesn't need to file. I end up preparing these on paper and mailing them in so I don't waste my credits. I'm sure this is contrary to your objective in getting us to use it for everyone.

Plus, we are all tax accountants. Please give us the option to pay in December to get the tax deduction a year early - like we advise all of our clients to do.

I agree. A software is not like a physical object that you have to order to make. Allowing rollover may help Intuit more profitable.

ProSeries Professional will give you unlimited returns at a fixed cost and Intuit is more than happy to collect your payment before the tax season begins.

Go to your Intuit account to see the options or call the Sales Dept. and they are very helpful.

Voted - the pricing model is currently the biggest downside for this software.  I don't mind paying a premium for premium software, but this model is not user friendly at all.  Unlimited pricing or the ability to roll a return to a future year (even if it costs a few bucks to roll over) would make purchasing this software much easier.

I would have paid the "Fast Path" fee, which became a separate charge a few years ago, for TY2021, just to be able to e-file TY2020, Amended returns.

I asked the sales department if Intuit would consider a stand alone charge for just the Fast Path option, without getting the current tax year software, but it fell on deaf ears. 

It would have been a great option, for me personally, since I retired in November of the 2021 and closed my practice. But we all know that just because tax season ends, doesn't mean the IRS won't be sending notices at any given time down the road. Especially after Covid and all it brought to the tax table.

Once again, penny wise thinking on Intuit's part, let them miss a great revenue opportunity by being pound foolish. All or nothing, I guess. The software has been lacking, for years, in many areas that an easy correction would have been a great benefit for all concerned. Unfortunately, the overall attitude is "here's what we got, deal with it" as the disclaimer in the Terms and Agreement so clearly state.

"We do not guarantee that anything will work correctly" is pretty much the gist of it. I was pretty amazed and impressed at how well the Free File software at IRS.gov, worked from day one, when I used it to file a few free family returns. Family never lets you retire.😁

I believe the IRS, in the next 10 years, will develop a system for e-filing directly by the taxpayer.

Even better, just send me a notice, based on all the income forms received by both the taxpayer and the IRS, and tell me what I owe or what I will receive as a refund. If I don't agree, then maybe a tax preparer gets involved. It would work for many individual taxpayers with simple returns.

Best of luck to all and thank God the "All-Stars" still give enough of a **bleep** to keep this forum running by providing the only source of solutions to Intuit's glaring indifference for the quality of their products.

Did I mention, I don't miss tax season one bit? 😂😂

It does seem like it would be smart for Intuit to allow return to roll-over so we would be incentivized to buy a lot of returns now and Intuit would have a substantial increase in revenue.  Most companies want more cash now rather than later and they're normally willing to incentivize that.
