Carryforward Notes Between Tax Years

It would be extremely helpful if client notes carried over to the next tax year. Drake Tax had this and it prevented missed details and reminded the preparer of important information. Adding note rollover in ProConnect would boost efficiency and keep important info in front of preparers year after year.

When we moved from Drake to ProConnect, I specifically asked the ProConnect team whether they had a notes feature that rolled forward. They confirmed that they do. We converted all our clients to ProConnect with this understanding. Now, as I’m cleaning up carryover items, I’ve discovered the Notes section has been removed entirely. We have many notes that need to carry forward, and losing that capability creates major inefficiencies.

Hi! @Jeremiah Gramm Thank you all for taking the time to post about the Notes in the Community. We have some additional information about them for you:

Prior year notes are currently available within tax years 2024-2019. Comments is the note functionality for new return notes for Tax year 2025 moving forward. The product team is working to make Tax year 2024 notes available read-only within tax year 2025 to help with the transition.

More updates are to come on timeline of release and persistent comments across tax years.
