Yesterday my last tax return's status was accepted by the feds and received by the state. This morning's status is "not e-filed". What gives?

Is there any link on the Returns dashboard for that state return that you can click on to see the history?  No one here will be able to help.  Get in touch with Intuit Support so that they can look into it for you.

@joe s1 Was your return transmitted but then rejected after the transmission?  Or were you not able to even transmit it because of a critical diagnostic?

What kind of form 1116 "carryforward loss" are you referring to?

It was transmitted 4/18 and then returned as rejected. Error message requested a  PDF of form 1116 be attached due to carryforward of Foreign Tax credit. Once attached it transmitted  Federal was accepted. Waiting on State approval.  Was wondering if State will consider it as a late filing of payment due. (federal was refund). thanks

@joe s1 That's F.1116 Sch B you're referring to and that's for FTC carryover, not loss.

A statement for losses (i.e. SLL/OFL/ODL) does need to be attached to F.1116 but there is no standard format for it and the IRS' e-file schema was also not built to spot the omission of such a statement.

As for the perfection period for states, it vary quite a bit.  Some are more lenient than others and some do not provide any perfection period at all.  If your client's state return is with one of those that do not provide for any perfection period, it'd probably be considered late.  Here's a tabulation that may help:
