I acquired a new client, and need to prepare previous year returns. When I go to print the return I receive a an error that the IRS open season hasn't started. But its for previous years not 2024 that I'm filing returns.
IRS computers are shut down; therefore, nobody can e-file any years' returns.
IDK about ProConnect's ability to print, but I know they cannot e-file.
I am having the same problem, I do not want to efile the return, I just want to print the return for the client. Have you heard anything about when they expect it to be corrected?
Apparently Intuit follows the IRS schedule and therefore you cannot print or efile till open filing season begins. I don't understand why, but that is what I was told.
Unfortunately, I am having the same issue. As part of my CPA/law practice, we do a lot of tax controversy work, and we need to be able to print returns to send to Revenue Officers, Revenue Agents, Appeals, etc. This is causing significant issues with our ability to serve clients.
A support representative told me this issue might be fixed when our renewals are processed for the 2024 tax year. Most are going to post on January 7 (Tuesday). I would like to have this fixed now.
Yes I was chatting with them yesterday. They didn't offer any other explanations other than I would need to wait till filing season opened. This is the first year I've ever encountered this issue.
