Greetings,

I have a client who is still in process of separating from their former spouse.  They have a dependent who is a minor and did not live with their former spouse at all in FY22 while providing 100% of support for their child.  My client is low income and according to relevant IRS publications, appears to meet the requirements to file as HoH: https://apps.irs.gov/app/vita/content/globalmedia/4491_filing_status.pdf

I completed their tax return in Pro-connect, however, I received the following rejection notice:

Details for your rejected filing.

Error message: Spouse SSN and Spouse Name Control in the return must match the e-File database.
Solution: For e-file purposes, the Spouse's SSN must match the e-File database for the Spouse's Name Control. Verify that the SSN has been entered correctly and make sure not to include any dashes in either names of the Spouse. If present, remove any dashes and re-submit this return electronically.
Code: R0000-503-02

Appreciate any assistance I can find to address this issue.
Cheers,
Dan

If you filed as HOH, why is her spouse's info in the return?

The more I know, the more I don't know.
