K-1 Not Received, Form 8082

Hello. My client has not received her final K-1 from her ex-husband (and likely won't before Oct 16th). This K-1 will likely show a loss of $30K to $45K. I know to file Form 8082. How do I get a loss to show up on her personal tax return? I checked box 1a for inconsistent treatment and used the lower amount, a loss of $30K to be conservative. That number doesn't show up to reduce her income. What am I missing? Thanks.

You have to enter that number just like you would from a K-1. The 8082 doesn't carry anywhere.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

Thanks for the response and clarification. That's what I figured, but it just didn't feel right to me. Take care!
