How do I get the box checked at the top of the form view to allow to jump to input field for any highlighted items when viewing forms?

That is not a check box. It is just showing you what color the highlight is.
If you are on any form and you see that color for a box or a line, just click (regular left click) on that box or line and it will jump to input field.
