How can you adopt and report a fiscal year (4/1 - 3/31) for an Individual? Can it be e-filed?

This is for a 1040.  The instructions for Form 1040 state to write “Tax Year” and the beginning and ending months
of your fiscal year in the top margin of page 1 of Form 1040 or 1040-SR

Can't be efiled. Consider carefully if you really want to do this. it is a big pain since most everything gets reported on a calendar year basis.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

Has your client filed returns in past using calendar year, if so he needs permission from IRS to change
