I have a client who married a gentleman from the UK in 2024. She moved there in December of 2024 and lived there the whole year. Her husband has never lived in the US and has never applied for a tin. I am amending her 2024 return to file as MFS instead of single. How do I mark the UK spouse as Not applicable for needing an SSN? And how do I clear the community property diagnostics?

Are you using a California address for her?  I would try to avoid that.

She lived in CA for more than half the year.

Sorry.  I thought you said, "She moved there in December of 2024 and lived there the whole year."

Can you enter Nonresdient Alien (NRA) in spouse SSN field?

The more I know the more I don’t know.

You mark their SSN as not applicable. Which I have, but I am still getting the diagnostic error that I need a valid SSN or ITIN.
