Pro Series Basic software 2016 asking for security code to login.

I haven't logged in to 2016 in awhile, but a client is asking for backup from that year to be faxed to her daughter's college scholarship dept.  In addition to asking for my email and password Pro Series Basic is asking me for a security code.  No clue as to what that is, or where I'm supposed to get one. It just has a box for security code and below the box it says please enter a valid security code (and tech support just hung up on me after a 10 minute wait)

The Security code is for Multi Factored Authentication.  Is is apart of our two step identity verification process. In order to get the code, the program should be asking you to send a request to either your email address, or to a phone number previously associated with your account.

It's the same password as for 2017

Correct, it would be the same username/email and password as 2017.

It wasn't a password issue - it was asking for a security code in addition to email and password.  And it didn't offer any clue as to how to get the security code.  I'm guessing I just waited a minute too long to login.  Tried a second time and it just asked for the usual login info.

The security code usually gets sent to your cell phone number on file.
