Client has a W-2 with NY and NJ income. He lives in NY full time and commutes to NJ for work.
The W-2 has three sections Copy B to be filed with Federal, Copy 2 to be filed with tax return for NJ, another copy 2 to be filed with tax return for NY.
The state wages listed for NJ are more than NY and on NJ-1040NR page 2 line 15 - It shows more income on 15b than 15a which according to the W-2 is correct. There was more money earned in NJ according to the W-2 box 16 than on the W-2 box 1.
Anyone ever encounter this or know how to correct in ProConnect?

NJ taxes NR on an as-if basis, Column A should, therefore, reflect amounts computed based on NJ tax laws and regulations. In this case, you'd override that amount under State & Local > Income > NJ Income, on the line for Wages [Override].
Thank-you, this was helpful. I had the same problem.
This cleared up the NJ 1040-NR critical diagnostic issue on line 15 but generated a new critical diagnostic for NJ 1040 line 14. This is a NY client with NJ income and there is no filing of an NJ 1040, only NJ 1040-NR.
