If an Employee is working and living in NJ and company requires him to work in New York for 45 days at different time in New York how his state Wages can be determind

The employer should have had the New York wages broken out on his W-2.

Except NY wants all wages on the NY W-2.

If he worked in NY 45 days prorate his earnings  - 45 days out of total days worked, unless client can provide more specific info.. NY even has an allocation worksheet somewhere as part of the nonresident return.
