My client and his wife is working two different states. I filed MFJ for federal and I want to do state MFS. can I efile MFS without federal.

But both states generally require the same filing status as federal to be used unless one is a resident and the other a nonresident. Are you saying one spouse is a resident of NJ and the other a resident of MD?
