efile ca estimates

Has anyone encountered not being able to efile ca estimated taxes? I don't see the Estimated Payment Wizard in the efile screen.

Hi @palmspringsafsp,  to utilize the estimated payments wizard for California please make sure that the California quarters that you want have been checked on the profile screen.  Then go to the "File Return" screen and click on "E-file Estimated Payment" as shown in the attached screenshot to transmit the estimated payment requests to the state.  If you need further assistance, please contact ProConnect Support .

Thank you for your reply but I followed the instructions as provided and I still couldn't e-file the estimates. After some trial and error, I discovered that I needed to unlock the tax return in order to e-file the estimates for CA. Once the estimates were accepted I re-locked the return. I would include a note to the online instructions that if the return is locked, you need to unlock it to file the CA estimates.

Hi @palmspringsafsp , I will add an update to the article for the estimates.  That is actually the case for any already e-filed return that you need to do an additional e-filing on, you have to unlock the return first.  ProConnect locks to prevent accidental changes to an already filed return.
