Can you change the type of tax return being prepared? For example, filed an extension as a 1065 earlier in the year and now find out they should be filing an 1120?

You start anew with a new  return for that client. The extension is invalid, but you do have a sob story to present to IRS, if there is any penalty assessed. There is no way to convert input from one type to another.

Lacerte does have that feature, for some types, but not what you are looking for.
