Amended estimated tax penalty on 2018 Form 1040X

2018 Form 1040X

Line 11 of 2018 Form 1040X did not include the amended estimated tax penalty.

It seems that the program did not carry over the amended estimated tax penalty from the amended Form 1040 to Form 1040X.  Any field to enter to activate this carryover?

Thanks for your help and time.

You are not supposed to recalculate this.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

@sjrcpa, thanks for your comment and time.

I cannot find any instruction on the amended estimated tax penalty on Form 1040X.

Please clarify that I do not have to compute such penalty on Form 1040X.

Please advise whether the estimated tax penalty on line line 23 as originally computed on Form 1040 should be included in Form 1040X.

If the originally computed estimated tax penalty needs to be included in Form 1040X, is it correct to include it as part of Line 16 of Form 1040X?

@sjrcpa is correct.  If you don't believe it, do your own research.  You can start by reading the 1040-X instructions.

Example.

Dillon is filing Form 1040-X to amend his 2018 tax return. He sent a check for $1,500 with his original return, reflecting a payment of $1,400 in taxes and a $100 estimated tax penalty. When completing Form 1040-X, Dillon enters $1,400 on line 16 (the check sent with the original return minus the $100 penalty).

Thanks to both @sjrcpa and @BobKamman for your valuable comments and time!
