A client's son has presented us with a receipt for installation of Tesla solar panels and two Powerwalls on his father's home in 2021.
The invoice description simply says "Solar System - Powerwall - Hardware and Labor."
I know that we report this on screen 38.2. The related Form 5695, Line 1 asks for "qualified solar electric property costs" and Line 8 asks for "qualified fuel cell property costs."
1. Do I need to ask the client's son to contact Tesla for a more detailed receipt that breaks out the cost of the solar panels, Powerwalls, and labor?
2. Am I correct in assuming that a Powerwall is a "qualified fuel cell property"?
Client is deceased and do not want to trouble surviving son unnecessarily. Thoughts?
