how can i tell if i have the latest version for each tax year to comply with the 2016 and forward login adjustments

I would use Lacerte Tool Hub to install each of the years 2016 forward. That will update them. You may not need to do all, but that is easy approach to each year. Select the INSTALL and use the drop down to select the years you will be using.
