My mom inherited my grandmother's house when she passed away in April and will have completed selling it by January. What percentage will she pay in taxes in California?

Anywhere between zero & 12.3 %, plus possible mental health tax of 1% (edited... it's not 3%)

At those rates, don't you think hiring a professional might just pay off in the long run?

You seem to be lost on the internet. Did you mean to be on the TurboTax Community forum, here:

I was in a Christmassy mood and was going to answer this, but then I saw George's answer was marked not helpful and my heart shrunk 3 sizes.  The mood has passed.

Interesting...I get no vote for pointing out the open door, but the OP voted up my other answer.
If I were a cynical as Mr. Yote - I'd suspect Intuit employees :frowning:

Well, the door, that barn door, is still O P E N.  Nothing has changed since we reiterated to Intuit that the Terms of Use still does not contain any limitation and there is no screening for account creation.

The no vote will be gone soon but the disappearing trick will remain part of the circus acts...  Now you see it, now you don't.
