MeF Shutdown Date?

I know this is likely due to the silent beast that is the IRS at current, but is Lacerte able to provide any official updates about when 1040 e-filing will be shut down? I see talks of December 26 but nothing official, and I'd rather not get too comfortable planning on that date. We really try to give the folks who have lollygagged this long a hard deadline for e-signing/remitting their 8879s, because nothing is worse than finally getting back an 8879 that's been languishing only to have to wrangle them once again to now paper file....

It would be great if Lacerte could at minimum publish an alert within the software to let us know it's still pending, rather than require us to try to pry the information from them. Typically by this date we only have a couple days left to e-file.

12/26 is official from the IRS side of things:

MeF Production Shutdown Schedule:

• The shutdown for “Send Submissions” will begin at 11:59 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, December 26, 2025.
• Transmitters may continue to use all other service requests, except “Send Submissions,” until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, December 26, 2025.
• States may continue to use all service requests necessary to retrieve and process state submissions, in accordance with the shutdown activities noted above. MeF recommends that states adjust their processing schedules to ensure submissions are retrieved in time to validate returns and issue acknowledgments.
• Any acknowledgments not retrieved by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on December 26, 2025, will not be accessible until MeF reopens for production in January 2026.
