When are we supposed to be able to complete returns for our clients? I installed the latest update and it still says the instructions for 8960 have not been released. This is a complete lie. The instructions for form 8960 were published for tax year 2025 by the IRS on February 9th 2026. It is February 21st. There is and estimated 7.5 million returns filed with 8960. This delay by Lacerte is unconscionable.

If you are satisfied the return is correct, go ahead and efile it. The Diagnostic about the instructions should not prevent that.

There was an update just now, February 22 at 10:;46am PST. No change to the diagnostics for 1040-ES instructions or Form 8960.
We have been getting regular updates for 2024 Lacerte, interestingly. This would indicate proforma issues perhaps. That certainly doesn't excuse the late performance for 2025 forms.
Lacerte should offer a reimbursement at this point, especially considering those who were on the deferred payment plan due 2/27. Pretty tough to earn any revenue when we have to wait on forms. I plan on looking at other software for 2026.
