I forgot to attach a statement to an e-filed 990-PF? Can I send it separately? Or do I need to file an amended return?

How important is it?

The more I know, the more I don't know.

She would have...IF you had answered her question.
The answer of "importance" would determine the appropriate course of action.
If you want help from the volunteers who "work" here, we do get to ask for clarification.

If I thought it wasn't important, we would I have asked? I asked a straightforward question. I haven't received a valid response yet.

How about a different twist - will the IRS consider it important?  Over the years here I have learned that folks attach a lot of crap to returns that they think is important but the IRS doesn't necessarily agree.

OK, I'll make it as easy as possible. The IRS requires lists of securities held to be attached to Form 990-PF. I forgot to attach the lists.  Is there a mechanism in Lacerte that allows me to send the lists after the fact or do I have to file an amended return?

There isn’t such a mechanism in the software.

@rootesrooter I would just hang onto it. If IRS wants it, they will ask. If you mail it separately, it is unlikely it will ever make it to being an attachment.

Answers are easy. Questions are hard!
