Does anyone have any insight as to why Form 3800 that was released by the IRS on December 17, 2024 will not be available in Lacerte until February 27, 2025?
At 9:00 PM on 2/17/25, Lacerte's form release tool said it would be released 2/18/25. Now today on 2/18/25, it has been changed to 2/27/25.
With farm tax returns due March 3rd, our firm, along with many others, is going to have additional pressure to turn these returns around in 4 days.
I also have this problem. Why is this form available on UltraTax CS now and Drake is releasing it Monday. Honestly thinking about buying Drake just for farm returns because Lacerte cannot understand the importance of this form. If anyone at Lacerte is reading this post know that our firm send a post to all CPA's in Iowa asking for help. Now our whole state knows that Lacerte doesn't respect those of us that do farm returns. I will post a retraction if Lacerte comes through. Honestly, it's just a repeat of last year. Severe disappointment.
Not having Form 3800 ready for filing Farm Individual returns ahead of the March 1 filing deadline is unacceptable. Can't depend on Lacerte to have their product useable when needed!
Unacceptable
It's still not available. Maybe Lacerte is too busy launching ancillary stuff like Intuit Tax Advisor to get the Form 3800 (and 3523 in California) ready for use. Totally unacceptable and when you call support, they say it's the developers that are the problem. At least post a Critical Update to this issue to let us know what's up
I don't have an answer, but my best guess is that with the wide scope of all the things Form 3800 covers, there's something Lacerte needs more time to map to/from that form. So even though the form is released and Lacerte has probably input it, more time is needed for some link to make everything flow right.
I agree that it's frustrating, especially for your March 1 deadlines.
I do agree with you there is a form change. I don't understand why UltraTax and Drake can consistently have this form ready before Lacerte.

Because UltraTax and Drake start their programming based on the draft form. If nothing changes on the final form, it is done. If there are minor changes, it is quick to add the changes.
Intuit doesn't start programming until the form and instructions are final.
Well Sir, that is the most logical explanation I have heard thus far. I am hopeful that in retrospect the powers at Intuit could change their processes to be respondent to their customers. Thanks again for your input.
interesting. How do you know about programming schedules for each software?🤔
I keep getting promise dates on the 3800 by calling Support and they continue to miss the promise date. still not available on 2/27/25. Worse yet, they are promising the California analogous Form 3523 by March 11, 2025. Assuming they are no better with this promise date than the others, I may need to go on extension with clients. Really screws me up and it's frustrating that they don't make an announcement of all of the forms that are MIA
still not released
Form 3800 not available for fiduciary return!
Is there in individual module needed for farm returns due 3/3 and have filed and been accepted. Haven't needed in entity returns yet.
3/6/25 3800 still not available for c corps...WTH
Still not available for C corporations as of 3/8/25. No word from Lacerte. I guess Lacerte does value us as customers.
Still not available March 11th for C-Corp!
Supposed to be in today's update. I just ran it and nope. Now it is saying March 13
Thanks for the uodate
Anybody know if there's a workaround for C corps? I have no confidence in Lacerte's promise dates on this form.
I have no confidence either in Lacerte's "tech" support any more. If you want to e-file without the form, you can do so by disabling the e-file error. Are you sure you want to do that? The deadline isn't until Apr 15. If you have to e-file state estimates, first one of which is due Mar 15 for NY, you can do that regardless of the tax return status since it's a separate action.
Start up companies with R&D can claim a credit against their payroll tax liability under section 41(h) and it's available each calendar quarter but only if the tax return is filed prior to quarter end. So if I can't file by 3/31, then my client permanently loses the credit availability for Q2, And the client is not interested in hearing about Lacerte's problems.
Can you do the form manually, and file on paper? What a world....
Sure, I can apply for a waiver of the efile mandate but I still would need to explain the problem to the client
Still not available for C corps on 3/15
