Ext + Estimates Auto withdraw

"The federal estimate payment information will be sent when you e-file the federal return. The estimate payment information isn't included with the filing of the extension."

The guidance doesn't say what to do when setting up auto w/d of the estimates AND filing the extension.

federal est payment automatic withdrawal

Submitted by pjschmitz  on ‎09-05-2024 02:02 PM

I was concerned if the payments were going to be withdrawn as they did not show on the efile activity report.  It did get spelled out in the acceptance letter

I was told that information had been passed on to the IRS so it should be ok and would show up on the activity report when it happens

Just bump up the extension payment to cover the first quarter estimate.

Slava Ukraini!

I filed the extension already.  dammit, that would be good for Intuit to list on the Help page.

The only time to set up the Federal estimates is when the tax return is filed.

California estimates, in contrast can be set up to be paid any time (using the ES Wizard.)  So, the functions are more restricted for Federal, it seems to me.

I filed the tax return (it is essentially done, waiting for a dinky K-1) so that estimates can be set up for auto withdrawal.  That seems silly but has to be.
