For what it's worth, I use ProSeries and have been using Dell products with McAfee for years without any issues.

I think this speaks to which decade we are from. There have been numerous reviews that Windows Defender that comes with Windows 10 is every bit as good as commercial internet security suites.
We came from a time when MS and Windows were not up to par when it comes to even basic antivirus protection. So, we're all used to installing commercial internet security suites, antiviral software, and anti-malware protection. But MS has apparently caught up, unbeknownst to many. Having said that, I am a paranoid who relies on not just internet security suite but multiple antivirus products.
Here're the results of AV Test on various products:

Dell "offers" McAfee because they partnered with them. You can use anything you want to use.
I just bought 4 new PCs from Dell, all with MacAfee. I changed them all to Norton.
I use Lacerte and Microsoft Office for most of my work and McAfee was not reliable unless they have improved their product. The last computer I bought came with Kaspersky and I have renewed with them over the last 5 years without any problems.
