Can I E-file short year final form 1041 for 2025 using Lacerte 2024 software

I have already e-filed 2024 Form 1041 fiduciary return back on April 10, 2025.

The personal representative has settle final assets and distributions for the small estate as of 6/30/2025 and has received a court document indicating the estate is closed.  The personal representative provided the final bits of interest and other income items to prepare a final Form 1041 for the period of 1/1/2025 to 6/30/2025.

I have prepared the return and have everything set up for e-file.  The Form 8879-F has been signed and when I attempted to submit the return electronically, I received a rejection, validation failure: Error 10 - The submission is a duplicate of one that was previously received.

Is there any way I can e-file this short year 2025 return? Am I missing a setting that would allow me to efile this return?  I have filled in the Short Year tax dates and checked the box indicating that this is a final return.

Or, do final short year Form 1041 have to be paper filed/mailed in rather than wait until the 2025 tax software is available?

Thank you for any guidance!

Gina

THIS /|\....   Go for an extension if at all possible as paper with white out is a bit of a pain...

Thank you!  I was hoping to avoid the paper return option, but if that brings this fiduciary's responsibility to a closure sooner rather than later, then that is the route we will take.
