So I know Lacerte is now supposed to "auto update" in the background.
But since I hadn't seen any 2024 updates in a while, I tried the old way: Tools/Update
I see some text flashing by, then (on a tiny area in the middle of my screen) is a fragment of text that seems to be changing. The entire program is hund, and I need Task Manager to end it.
Anyone else seeing this? Are we not supposed to check for updates manually any more?
Yes, I spend most of my year overseas and in the last couple of months I have had the updates hang until I had to kill it. What worked for me is turning on a VPN (I use NORD) and the update goes smoothly. Hope this helps.
"Are we not supposed to check for updates manually any more?" YES, but I am not seeing updates applied yet. I went so far as to uninstall the program and do a new FORCE install and it did not seem to update. The program thinks it updated, but shows the latest version as the first release. I am just going to be patient and they will get it going, but there is nothing I have to use the program for RIGHT NOW. I am fiddling with my own return, just to see if they have their stuff together. We have a while before the crunch and I trust they will have it ready for us.
Mine won't update either. I'm on version 45.0004.
Updates seem to be all over the place. One machine says it's 2024.4.12.0 winops 45.0115 and says it's up to date, another machine in the office says its at 2024.4.8.0 winops 45.0115 and says its up to date. according to the update page via the "View all available update info" Link in the update pop-up, we should be at 45.0129 winops version. Not very happy about all of this. Hope it's not being done on purpose to get us on the cloud.
