The following diagnostic is generating: A California address has been entered, if necessary a California tax return with a married filing separate (MFS) filing status can be electronically filed, however Form 8958, Allocation of Tax Amounts Between Certain Individuals in Community Property States, is required to electronically file the federal return. Add the required e-file MFS Income Allocation information (Screen 3.1) or remove the Federal return from the e-file inventory and file the federal tax return on paper. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________This is the solution that was posted a while back that is not a solution as of 8/27/24 - Per tier 2 that for e-file specifications for Federal even if they are MFS, not living together they would have to fill out screen 3.1 Income Allocation for Community Property States to be able to e-file Federal. If they do not fill it out, paper file Federal. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Update: 8/27/24 I have completed Screen 3.1. I have checked MFS. I have checked Living with Taxpayer. But still Form 8958 is not present.
