The following diagnostic is generating: The "Signing Officer of Fiduciary (Form 5227 only)" fields in the Electronic Filing screen are required for efile purposes. Pleas ensure both a name and social security number are entered". My institutional trustee clients are pushing back on giving out trust office SS#s to e-file and that none of their other providers need their SS#. Where does IRS say that they have to provide this to e-file? Someone, somewhere say some IRS specification that caused them to program this and I need to find that requirement.

And the answer is not file on paper. Because for Form 5227 filing on paper is not considered a valid filing and so you have not filed the return.
