e-file: This return includes an indicator that the taxpayer and/or spouse died during the tax year on Kansas form K-40, Form K-40H and/or Form K-40PT. The Kansas Department of Revenue requires that a completed Kansas form RF-9 "Decedent Refund Claim" be attached as a PDF with the tax return when this indicator is present. For your convenience, a fillable form RF-9 is available within the tax program on Screen 4.4 e-file Miscellaneous-> Electronic Return File Attachments. I can not find this in screen 4. Solution: This is a Kansas Informational diagnostic to indicate that a completed Kansas form RF-9 "Decedent Refund Claim" should be attached to the return as a PDF file. Once the PDF file is attached, the diagnostic will still remain under diagnostic tab.
