Virginia requires the electronic payment of the tax due if the amount is greater than $6,000 or if the payment being made is greater than $1,500. The balance can be paid via electronic debit by the bank information in "Miscellaneous Info/Direct Deposit" screen and e-Filing the return. Or the balance due can be paid online. The software is only allowing the e-filing of both Federal and Virginia returns if the taxpayer chooses the first option above. How can you e-file the returns if the taxpayers choose to make their payment online at the state website?
