Ensure a preparer phone number is entered for the selected preparer in client information in Settings| Options | Preparers"" (Ref. # 2040393) To resolve this critical diagnostic: Click on Settings in the menu bar at the top of Lacerte, and choose Options Select the Preparers tab Click once to select the preparer of the return and then click the Modify button Enter a valid 10-digit telephone number in the field ""Phone Number"" Click OK to exit the Preparer Information screen, and then OK to save changes If the diagnostic is still generating after that: From the Detail input in the client, navigate to Screen 1 - Client Information Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Information section Select the desired preparer from the drop down menu in the ""Preparer"" field (code USC1_1)
