The following diagnostic is generating:
When e-filing an amended return, the Department of Labor requires the user to enter the Reference Acknowledgement ID from the original electronically filed return. This Acknowledgement ID can be found under the e-File Status tab located in the F4-Status screen of the original return. The ID must be 30 characters in length.
Solution:
To locate the 30 digit Acknowledgement ID:
- Browse to the data path for the Benefit Plan (5500) module. (Press F10 and then scroll down to find the Data Path)
- Double click on the BDATA folder.
- Double click on the EF folder.
- Locate the file listed by client number XXXX.BA? (XXXX= Client Number, ?= Tax Year.)
- Double Click on the file.
- Click on the option, Select a program from a list of installed programs.
- Click OK.
- Click on Notepad.
- Click OK.
- Locate the <AckId>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX<AckId> line.
- Make a note of the number.
If the return needs to be amended, enter the AckID in the e-File only: Acknowledgement ID filed in Screen 3: Miscellaneous Information > Amended Return/Report section.
