The following diagnostic is generating:

The {TPSEHealthActivity} activity entered for the taxpayer's self-employed health insurance deduction does not exist.

Solution:

This diagnostic is generating because the Activity that the Self-Employed Health Deduction is linked to does not exist in the client file.

When you click on this diagnostic, it jumps to Screen 24 - Adjustments to Income, in the section SE Health Insurance.

To resolve the diagnostic after clicking on it:

  1. Click the drop-down labeled Form (Ctrl+T).
  2. Choose the correct form.
  3. Click the drop-down labeled Activity Name or Number.
  4. Choose the correct activity.

This may also be the result of input related to the Affordable Care Act.

Verify Marketplace and SE Health Insurance Data:

  1. Go to Screen 39.2 - Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.
  2. Scroll down to the section SE Health Insurance.
  3. Confirm the form and activity selected here are correct.
  4. Repeat this process for each 1095-A with SE health insurance information.

If the correct form and correct activity are chosen on this screen, and the diagnostic did not clear:

Check S Corporation Information:

  1. Navigate to Screen 20.2 - S Corporation Information.
  2. Scroll to Part II - Information about the Shareholder.
  3. Click the drop-down labeled Name or Number of W-2 received by greater than 2% owner.
  4. Select the correct Employer’s W-2 that was entered on Screen 10 - Wages, Salaries, and Tips.

Note: Verify that if this is for a taxpayer or spouse, that it is indicated on:

  • Screen 10 – Wages, Salaries, and Tips for the W-2
  • Screen 20.2 – S Corporation Information for the Passthrough K-1
  • Screen 24 – Adjustments to Income

The deduction must be in the correct column for Taxpayer/Spouse.
