The California corporation number must be seven digits in length for electronic filing (ref. 10610). If I take the initial 4 digits, which designates the year of formation, there's 8 digits remaining. How do I get 7 years. Solution: An LLC electing to file as an S Corporation may have a CA corporation number longer than 7 digits. In that situation, the return must be paper filed, or the return will be rejected. This is due to an e-file business rule set forth by the California Franchise Tax Board.
