Social Security Benefits

Taxpayer did not collect any social security benefits for 2021.  Wanted to see how much would be taxable if taxpayer starting collecting in 2022.  Entered $30K in Pre-Strategy Section.  Tax Advisor recalculated and came up with $51K which is $21K more than is being collected. Something is very wrong!

30k * 0.85 * 2 = 51k.

Did you enter 30K for each spouse??

I come here for kudos and IRonMaN's jokes.

Maybe the software is so intuitive that it knows the taxpayer will be getting married this year 😬

Sometimes when weird things happen with software, deleting information and starting from scratch can take care of the problem.  But sometimes, a call to support is needed.
