Lacerte Tax Idea Exchange
Submitted by DAO FridayAs you know, the most critical information in e-file processing is whether a return has been accepted or rejected by the IRS. Early identification of rejected returns is essential to ensure timely correction and resubmission.
However, we have observed that Lacerte frequently displays the status as “Sent to Lacerte” rather than clearly indicating whether a return has been rejected. As a result, users are required to manually check each module individually to determine the actual IRS status.
During peak filing seasons, this issue becomes particularly problematic, as we process hundreds of returns daily. Since IRS acceptance is not immediate, rejected returns can easily go unnoticed unless each case is reviewed manually. This creates a significant inefficiency in workflow and increases the risk of delayed corrections.
More importantly, delayed identification of rejected returns may result in taxpayers missing filing deadlines, which can lead to penalties and interest charges. This can also result in client dissatisfaction and complaints.
We respectfully request that you consider improving the e-file status visibility to clearly distinguish rejected returns at the highest level of the dashboard or activity summary, without requiring individual module checks.
