Screen 17 Dispositions requires entry of Sales Price, Cost or Basis and entries to determine long- or short-term Gaines. In previous program versions, that was all that was necessary to generate Form 8949. The latest update generates form 8453 rather than Form 8949. That is an error. The work around is to enter a -1 in code 937 on screen 17.1. That causes form 8949 to generate properly and does not generate form 8453. It is important that Lacerte updates do not break things that were working correctly.
