Re: Failure message when trying to efile 2016 return

I'm trying to efile a 2016 individual return, but I'm getting the following message, "The electronic filing season for this tax authority is closed. Please file your returns through the mail. Problem occurred transmitting efile data."

But the statute was extended to 7/15 and the season is not closed. Is anyone else having this problem when trying to efile 2016. It is July 14, 2020.

Regardless of the 7/15 deadline extension, the Modernized E-File system only allows for current year and two years back as per IRS. That would only allow 2019, 2018 and for 2017.
