I e-filed the 2025 tax year 1040 on 03/28 after previously filing an extension. Both the extension and the original return have been accepted by the IRS and the state. I am trying to create and e-file a superseding return in ProConnect, and it's forcing Form 1040X to be created and printed. I tried two ways
Copy original return> Misc Forms>Amended Return (1040X)/Superseded return> Check Box Superseded return (Amended return is not checked). The system creates a critical diagnostic error with a recommendation to select an amended return
Amend return>Misc Forms>Amended Return (1040X)/Superseded return> Check Box Superseded return (Amended return is not checked)
The critical diagnostic error mentions that 1040X must be included in the superseded return. Is this correct behavior?

I don't know about ProConnect, but that is how Intuit forces ProSeries to work. However, I suspect it is wrong and that Intuit hasn't updated the software in that regard to file a Superseded return.
