Need some help in resolving this issue.
I can't file a 990 return in the 2024 tax software version since we have already filed this return (same EIN), but for a short year return 6/30/24 due to a change in accounting period.
Now, we have to file the fiscal year 6/30/25 return but I'm now getting the e-file error "E-file Transmission Failure - A return with same SSN or EIN has previously been submitted.".
I'm thinking this is due to the two similar EINs filed in the 2024 software. However, it's for different periods, so I'm not sure how to resolve this.
I can't paper file the return since it's a 990 return. Any resolutions from the community? Tried reaching out to ProConnect support and they are recommending paper filing which is not possible in a 990 return. (The Taxpayer First Act, enacted July 1, 2019, requires tax-exempt organizations to electronically file information returns and related forms. The new law affects tax-exempt organizations in tax years beginning after July 1, 2019)

The return doesn't meet e-file specs. It has to be filed on paper. It's an exception to the requirement.
