To use TaxConnect you need to already have an EFIN. That was not clear when I bought the software, and I don't have one. In addition, the software interface is TERRIBLE. I had been using H&R Block in years past. Their interface was fine, but the software locked up all the time and they basically have no tech support. All of a sudden, they are no longer publishing software for Form 990. Hence my search for a replacement. TaxConnect has no interview interface to speak of. In addition, when you click on a box in you tax return forms, it opens to a screen which is not properly labeled. You need to enter a 1 or a 2, but it isn't clear what the effect will be. I have been using TurboTax for many years and was expecting the same kind of professional user interface. My mistake. After failing to be able to file my ONE 990, I reentered all my information into Form990.org in less than an hour as compared to the near full day I spent trying to get TaxConnect to work. For $41 I was easily able to enter all my information and finally file my return.
